Red Deer Polytechnic Queen named 2026 CCFR High Point Cowgirl

Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) first-year student-athlete Kaybree Zunti has had a season to remember in the Canadian Collegiate Rodeo Association (CCRA). After consistently ranking at or near the top of the leaderboard throughout the 2025-26 season, Zunti completed the season with another remarkable performance at the recent Canadian College Finals Rodeo (CCFR) in Rimbey. Her efforts earned her the title of 2026 CCFR High Point Cowgirl, finishing with an impressive 795 points.
New coach to lead the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Basketball program

The Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Kings Basketball team will have a new leader starting in the 2026-27 season. Anthony Skepple has been named the head coach of the RDP Kings. “I am excited to welcome Anthony to RDP,” says Randy Stewart, Manager, Athletics and Student Life, Red Deer Polytechnic. “Along with his wealth of post-secondary playing and coaching experience, Anthony has the ability to bring out the best of the student-athletes, both on and off the court.” Skepple coached the Briercrest College Clippers Women’s Basketball team from 2020-25, leading the squad to a pair of ACAC bronze medals. He was also named the 2023 ACAC Women’s Basketball South Coach of the Year after helping the Clippers improve to 13-8 from 4-12 the previous season.

The 2025–26 Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Kings and Queens have added another remarkable chapter to the storied legacy of RDP Athletics. At the Red Deer Polytechnic Athletics Awards Night held April 1, student-athletes, coaches, staff, donors and supporters were acknowledged for their contributions to academic, athletic and social communities.

In April, Red Deer Polytechnic Athletics will host the RDP Athletics Awards and the RDP Queens Dance team will participate in the Danceworks/Central Alberta Dance Festival in the Arts Centre. Members of the Queens Rodeo team will compete at the Canadian Collegiate Rodeo Association (CCRA) Finals in Rimbey.

The RDP Queens Hockey team earned silver at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Championship. The Kings Hockey team dropped two close games in its best-of-five ACAC Championship. The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Rodeo team achieved two top-10 results atq the Little Royal Rodeo.

The RDP Kings Hockey team won the best-of-three semi-finals and advanced to the ACAC Men’s Hockey Championship. The Queens Indoor Track team earned silver and the Kings solidified bronze at the ACAC Championships. The RDP Dance team participated in the True West Dance Competition.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Dance team will participate in the True West Dance Competition.

The Queens Hockey team won its semi-final against the NAIT Ooks. The RDP Dance team received several awards at the Crown Quest Intercollegiate Dance Competition.

The Queens Basketball team split its series with the Rattlers while the RDP Kings Basketball squad dropped its games to Medicine Hat College. The Lakeland College Rustlers got by the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Hockey team. The Kings Hockey team defeated the Portage College Voyageurs on the road in regular Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) action.
