RDP Athletics Recap
This past week, the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Volleyball team won gold at the 2026 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Volleyball National Championship. The RDP Queens Hockey team earned silver at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Championship. The Kings Hockey team dropped two close games in its best-of-five ACAC Championship. The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Rodeo team achieved two top-10 results at the Little Royal Rodeo.

Volleyball
Kings at NAIT | CCAA National Championship | March 11-14
The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Volleyball program won its 15th national title, not dropping a single set in Edmonton.
In the quarter-finals, the RDP Kings defeated the Humber Hawks in three sets (25-20, 25-18 and 25-14). Red Deer's Colby Nemeth led the Kings with 12 kills (0.529).
The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings downed the Vancouver Island University (VIU) Mariners in straight sets in the semi-finals (26-24, 26-24 and 25-20). Nemeth had 22 kills (0.432). Brett Lower contributed 10 kills (0.643) for the Polytechnic.
The RDP Kings swept the College of the Rockies Avalanche in the gold medal match (25-20, 25-20 and 25-23). Owen Langberg accumulated 11 kills, one ace and three stuff blocks for RDP. Kings' setter Evan Mah totaled 36 assists, four digs, two kills and an ace.

Hockey
Queens at Rustlers | Friday, March 13
The RDP Queens Hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to the Lakeland College Rustlers, leading the best-of-five ACAC Championship 2-1. Hannah Lundquist, a second-year defender from Lethbridge, scored the Queens' lone goal.
Queens vs. Rustlers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, March 14
The Rustlers got by the Queens 5-1 to even the series 2-2. Kaedence Mollin, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student, scored for RDP.
Queens at Rustlers | Sunday, March 15
The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens were shaded 1-0 by the Lakeland College Rustlers in overtime, earning ACAC silver. Goaltender Tora Ward made 42 saves in the Queens' net (0.977).

Kings vs. Trojans | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, March 13
The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team was downed 7-6 by the SAIT Trojans in game one of the best-of-five ACAC Championship. Mason Bueckert, Tyson Janzen, Sean Michalevich, Nolan Doell, Holden Knights and Deegan Mofford scored for the Kings.

The SAIT Trojans edged the Kings 5-4 in double overtime, taking a 2-0 lead in the series. Bueckert, Alex Bernauer, Tanner Sklaruk and Carter Cormier recorded goals for RDP.

Queens | Little Royal Rodeo | March 14-15
The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Rodeo team had two top-10 performances at the Little Royal Rodeo hosted by Lakeland College. On Sunday, Mattie Jensen (22.89) finished seventh in Pole Bending. Kaybree Zunti (3.9) ranked eighth in the Breakaway Challenge on Saturday.
