That would do it for the first period. The Rustlers outshot the Queens 10-7 in the opening frame.
It did not take long for the Queens to extend their lead. Bachelor of Education student Alli Soyko would score her first of the season less then two minutes in to the second period. Defenseman Kiera Mulder and forward Madison Sansom would get the tallies on the goal by Soyko.
Two and a half minutes later, the Queens strike again. This time it's a goal from second-year forward Haley Kicia who was fed a pass from Stettler-native Kyla Hansel. This would give the Queens a commanding 3-0 lead going into the third.
It was a tight checking third period. The Queens offence was silenced. The only goal in the third period came from the Rustlers Kylie Perry who scored with just 18 seconds left in the game. Kennedy Taylor and Olivia Mann would get the assists on the lone Rustlers goal.
