Boston Pizza RDP Athlete of the Week for February 10, 2025
Kaylee Raniseth was outstanding for the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Curling team at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Curling Championships held at the Pidherney Centre from February 7-9, 2025. She played an integral role in helping the Queens earn ACAC gold.
In collaboration with her teammates, Raniseth was highly effective in creating and executing the Queens’ strategy, while being adaptable to the ebbs and flows of each game. As skip, she made many high quality shots that swung momentum in favour of the Polytechnic.
Delburne’s Raniseth and the RDP Queens had an unbeaten record at the Championships, going 3-0 during round robin play. They also downed the Concordia University Thunder 5-4 to advance directly to the gold medal game where the two teams met in a rematch. The Queens earned a 5-2 decision.
Raniseth, a Bachelor of Education Middle Years student, was named the 2024/2025 ACAC Female Curler of the Year.
Raniseth and the Queens will compete at the 2025 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA)/Curling Canada College Championships held February 24-28 at Lethbridge Curling Club.
Congratulations!
Boston Pizza RDP Athlete of the Week for November 25, 2024
Kaylee Raniseth (skip) and the RDP Queens Curling team had a dominant performance at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Fall Regional in Camrose. Delburne’s Raniseth made many clutch shots throughout the weekend, helping to guide her team to first place in the women’s division (5-0).
Raniseth, a Bachelor of Education Middle Years student, and the Queens defeated the Concordia University Thunder 6-4, SAIT Trojans 7-5, NAIT Ooks 9-3, host University of Alberta Augustana Vikings 8-6 and Lakeland College Rustlers 9-5.
Next, the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens will participate in the ACAC Winter Regional from January 17-19, 2025 in Edmonton. The combined results from the Fall and Winter Regionals will determine the top four teams in each division. These top four squads will qualify for the ACAC Curling Championships hosted by RDP from February 7-9, 2025 at the Pidherney Centre.
Congratulations!
Mr. Mikes RDP Athlete of the Week for January 23, 2023
Skip Kaylee Raniseth and the Queens Curling Club could not have a better weekend after going undefeated in the Winter Regional hosted by Concordia University. Coming into the weekend, Head Coach Brad Hamilton knew they needed to have a good weekend to have any sort of chance at placing in the top 4 after just finishing with a 3-2 record at the Fall Regional. Hamilton got what he wished for and more as the Queens went 5-0 on the weekend, which includes a 7-2 victory over the Concordia University Thunder, who was also undefeated coming into the Sunday draw against the Queens.
They now sit in first place in the league as they prepare for the championships on March 3-5 in Lloydminster. This is partially due to the hard work Raniseth put in during the weekend in Edmonton. Her competitive curling experience was on display with both her strategy and shot-making. Raniseth will be a vital piece to the puzzle as the team moves forward and competes for a championship come March.
Congratulations Kaylee and we wish you and the Queens luck as you look to avenge last year’s tough gold medal loss!
