Bio

Red Deer Polytechnic Athlete of the Week for October 4, 2021

Jayden Wildcat has been very impressive in his first year of competition in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Cross Country Running.

This past Saturday, the Open Studies student was a key contributor in the Red Deer Polytechnic Cross Country Running team's combined team trophy victory at Running Room Grand Prix #2. Maskwacis’ Wildcat (29:52) finished seventh among ACAC male participants over 8 km, less than a second behind veteran teammate Devin Saunders. This performance in Camrose was even more significant with the unavailability of Daniel Szucs, who is one of the Kings’ leaders. Wildcat’s contributions helped the RDP Kings Cross Country Running team earn second spot as a group after losing the tie breaker to the Lethbridge College Kodiaks for first. Both teams had 40 points, but the Kodiaks' fourth place runner finished one position ahead of the Kings' fourth racer.

With the recent recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Wildcat also brought the Red Deer Polytechnic Cross Country Running team orange ribbons, which were provided by his grandmother. The student-athletes and coaches found this to be a special and meaningful experience.

Congratulations!
