Red Deer Polytechnic Athlete of the Week for October 18, 2021
Devin Saunders had an outstanding race for the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Cross Country Running team at Running Room Grand Prix #3 this past Saturday. The third-year student-athlete was a key contributor in helping the Kings earn second place as a group in Calgary. The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings trailed first place SAIT by only four points, and impressively ranked 26 points ahead of third place Lethbridge College.
Individually, the Bachelor of Business Administration General Management student ran a personal best, completing the 8 km course in 27:49 and finishing fifth among Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) male participants. Saunders provides valuable leadership on the young Red Deer Polytechnic Cross Country Running team.
Red Deer’s Saunders and his teammates are preparing to compete for a medal at the ACAC Cross Country Running Championships on Saturday, October 30 in Camrose.

RDC Athlete of the Week for Nov. 11, 2019
Devin Saunders (29:33.32) raced incredibly well at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross Country Running National Championships this past Saturday. In challenging weather conditions, the Business Administration General Management student rose to the occasion. Devin led the Kings to bronze, which was the first national medal for the RDC men. The second-year competitor from Red Deer placed tenth over 8 km and earned a spot on the CCAA Men’s Cross Country Running All-Canadian team.

RDC Athlete of the Week for Sept. 16, 2019
Red Deer’s Devin Saunders (28:24.98) ran extremely well at ACAC Running Room Grand Prix #2 on Saturday, September 14. The Business Administration General Management student completed the 8 km competition in second spot among ACAC male participants, and had a strong final push to remain ahead of SAIT’s Brant Lauweryssen (28:27.52). Devin helped guide the RDC Kings to first place in the ACAC Men’s Division, with only 21 team points. The SAIT Trojans placed second with 25 points and the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings captured third with 55.
