Carlson and Queens extend winning streak, defeat Clippers on the road

Caronport, SK – The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens continued their winning ways in Saskatchewan.

Led by Player of the Game Anna Carlson, the Queens defeated the Briercrest College Clippers in four sets (25-21, 25-18, 13-25 and 25-19), improving to 14-0.

Carlson, a Bachelor of Science Nursing student, ignited the offence, contributing 10 kills (0.350 hitting percentage), nine digs, two blocks and one of RDP's five service aces. McKenna Olson (eight kills) and Sydney Rix (six kills) were strong out of the middle.

Ferguson (9)

Queens outside hitter Jaiden Ferguson was credited with eight kills, seven digs, four blocks and an ace.

Setter Emma Letkeman had 30 assists, six digs and a kill. Libero Kaylee Domoney picked up 18 digs for the Polytechnic.

Clippers Player of the Game Jessica Zacharias totaled 36 assists, 14 digs, six of her squad's 15 aces, and a kill. Reece Sorensen had a match high 13 kills. Faith Buhler added 12.

All 12 Queens received playing time.

The first place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (14-0) will host the fourth seed Ambrose University Lions (6-7) on Thursday, February 10 at 6 pm.

Then one conference game remains against the Lethbridge College Kodiaks before the postseason.

To align with new Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national championship dates, the start of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) playoffs have been pushed back to March 4. The final four women's volleyball teams will battle for the ACAC Championship title on March 11 and 12. 

The CCAA Women's Volleyball National Championship will take place from March 24 to 27 in Prince Edward Island. Holland College will host the event.
