Palumbo shines as Ooks eek out shootout win over RDP Queens

Edmonton, AB - Queens goaltender Izzy Palumbo had an outstanding performance and gave her team a chance to win in Edmonton.
The first-year netminder shut the door on 36 shots over 60 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods against the NAIT Ooks. The only shot that beat the Bachelor of Commerce student came in the shootout. The Ooks were awarded the 1-0 home win.
The Queens picked up a point in the standings and earned five of a possible six points in the past three matchups against their northern rivals.
NAIT outshot RDP 30-14 over three periods.

Throughout five minutes of four-on-four and five minutes of three-on-three overtime periods, both teams recorded six shots.
In the shootout, NAIT's Bre Martin was the only player to score. The Ooks picked up two points in the standings, but still trail the Queens by three (17-14).
Both goaltenders were named the Players of the Game.
NAIT's Havana Batke was credited with the win in net, turning aside 20 shots.
Palumbo now has a 0.46 goals against average and 0.987 save percentage.
The Queens went zero-for-five on the power play. The Ooks couldn't score on three opportunities.
The first place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (8-1-1) will host the second seed NAIT Ooks (7-3-0) on Saturday, February 12 at 7 pm.
