The Kings offense shines in a victory over the Rattlers
Medicine Hat, October 16 - The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Soccer team is coming home with a draw and a win this weekend.
The Kings were coming off a tight fought battle with the Kodiaks where the result was a 2-2 draw.
They would head out to Medicine Hat College to take on the Rattlers today.
Kings striker Cristobal Lisboa Tapia would open the scoring in the 13th minute. Captain Ajdin Sarcevic would grab the assist on Tapia's second goal of the season.
It did not take long for Red Deer to grab their insurance goal with Lacombe-native Jaeden Swartz scoring just a minute later. Sarcevic assisted his second goal of the match for the Kings.
That would do it for the scoring in the first half with the Kings outshooting the Rattlers 15 to two. Kings keeper Jared St. Thomas would only have to make one save in the first 45 minutes.
Two minutes after half-time, Swartz would capitalize for his third of the year and his second in the match. The goal went unassisted.
For the next 27 minutes no goals were scored. However, yellow cards were handed out to Kings Ashton Chipman and Rattlers Ardit Zejnullahu.
Open Studies student-athlete Jjojanner Amaris sent a pass to Kings midfielder Arshdeep Singh, who would put one past Rattlers keeper Ross Wilder for Red Deer's fourth goal of the match.
In the 90th minute, Medicine Hat's forward Felix Danquah would end St. Thomas' bout for a shutout. The Kings still came away with a 4-1 victory over the Rattlers.
With two goals on the match, Swartz was named player of the game for Red Deer.
The players of the match for the Rattlers were Wilder and Rattlers Captain Sloan Dykema as they played in their final home game of the season.
The Kings will look forward to graduating some of their players next weekend on Graduation Day when they take on the Olds College Broncos on October 22.
This will be the last match before conference championships on October 27-30 in Raymond.
The game will kickoff at 2 pm.
