Red Deer Polytechnic Athlete of the Week for September 20, 2021
This past Friday, Gabriel Fleury de Queiroz played exceptionally well on the pitch, helping to lead the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Soccer team (1-0-0) to an impressive 5-1 victory over the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) 2019/2020 gold medalists, the Lethbridge College Kodiaks. Fleury de Queiroz recorded one goal, which came from a penalty kick, and four shots on net over 77 minutes of playing time.
The third-year forward consistently attacked the Kodiaks’ defenders, which resulted in another penalty kick. Teammate Pedro Humberto Mourao Neto also converted his opportunity into a Kings’ goal. The talented student-athlete from Brazil worked hard and followed the game plan implemented by Kings Head Coach Gerald Grobmeier. Fleury de Queiroz led by example and was a key contributor in the home decision, allowing the RDP Kings to open the ACAC 2021/2022 season on a winning note.
For his strong effort, Fleury de Queiroz was named the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game.
