Lions use a strong second half to down Kings at Ambrose University

Calgary, AB – The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Ambrose University Lions alternated halves Friday evening.
The RDP Kings held the edge in the opening half and then the Ambrose University Lions' offence hit another gear in the latter half. The home team picked up an 87-81 home win.
The visitors jumped out to a 42-32 edge by the break.
Toronto's Tyronn King led RDP with 10 points. Kevin Szymanek had eight.
Linden Jackson ignited the Lions' offence, scoring 13 points over two quarters.
On the night Ambrose University recognized its graduating student-athletes, the Lions knocked down 55 points in the latter half. The Kings responded with 39 points and the Lions wrapped up the decison.
RDP Kings Player of the Game Tyronn King had a team high 23 points. He added eight of his team's 43 rebounds, four assists and one steal.

Szymanek recorded a double-double - 10 points and 12 boards. Eduardo Crespo had a good game, totaling 19 points, eight assists, five rebounds, three steals and a block.

Lions Players of the Game were graduating student-athletes Sylvan Lombo, Linden Jackson, Isaac Amsing and Brayden Daniel.
Ambrose's Linden Jackson scored a game high 32 points. Isaac Gray added 26 points and nine of the Lion's 43 rebounds.
The RDP Kings shot 44 per cent from the field, 24 per cent from three-point range and 60 per cent from the free throw line.
The Ambrose University Lions countered with 41.4, 24, and 76.7 per cent.
On Saturday, February 26, the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings (8-7) will entertain the Ambrose University Lions (6-9) at 8 pm at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre in the final regular season game. The Kings have a postseason spot locked up.
